v6power Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 Hi All, A problem with the air con. Firstly, how do I determine wether I have rear air conditioning?? I have vents under the 2nd row of seats, but none in the roof. I had it re-gassed yesterday, but it is still not cold. The technician said it could either be the pump or the control unit. With the engine running, you can see the pump spinning, but none of the pipes are cold. He therefore suggests that the pump is at fault, but I would like to be as sure as possible before throwing that sort of money at it. btw it is an 04 TDi 130 Ghia Thanks in anticipationAde Quote
chromedome Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 If you have no roof vents then you don't have dual air conditioning. Can you hear the compressor clutch engage (a fairly loud click) when you switch the a/c on? Quote
gregers Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 you havnt had it refilled with to much refrigerant have you, there are a few posts on the subject where if you have to much in the system it will not work properly and if fact may/will damage the system. Quote
v6power Posted June 25, 2010 Author Report Posted June 25, 2010 We have overfilled it!! Although that isnt the reason for not working as we tried the smaller amount first. I cant hear any "click" although the pulley is spinning freely?? Quote
dbc Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 Could just be a faulty electro clutch. MEasure the resistance across the terminals on the compressor, you should have about 3.8ohms. If not then you can just replace the clutch which is a darn sight cheaper than a new compressor..... Quote
v6power Posted July 13, 2010 Author Report Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) A chap at work had a pump that he had taken off his Corrado. Same part number, fitted & working. Cool as!!! Edited July 13, 2010 by v6power Quote
